Suggested hi-fi mods are to replace the 4558 op-amp with a TL072, and the 741 with a TL071. I understand they are socketed.

There are probably a number of ways of overcoming the slight volume drop when the mistress is engaged. One is to use a and EHX LPB (booster) afterwards:

I'd probably use a TL071 opamp booster.

UPDATE

The 4558 and 741 have been upgraded. No significant improvement in sound quality to my ears. The pedal has also been modded for true bypass by simple rewiring the stock DP3T foot switch. Photos soon.
